the rules of the den
How we rank
Simple: real people boost the tools they rate, our editors keep the catalog honest, and sponsors are always labeled. Money never moves a tool up a ranking.
Boosts
Every signed-in user can boost a tool - one boost per tool, click again to take it back. No anonymous votes, no bots, no vote packages to buy. Boosts drive the order inside every category and the Top 3 badges on the front page.
The three layers
Layer 1: The ranking
Community boosts plus editorial order. Not for sale - not to sponsors, not to friends, not to anyone.
Layer 2: Sponsored slots
Clearly labeled 'Featured', visually separate, never counted in the ranking. This is how the lights stay on without touching layer 1.
Layer 3: Editorial picks
Our own curation - collections, notes, favorites. Opinionated and human, always distinguishable from the ranking.
Claiming your profile
We seed profiles ourselves so every category is complete from day one. If a profile is yours, claiming is free and instant: sign in, enter your work email at the tool's domain, type the 6-digit code we send you - done. Different email domain? A human verifies within 48 hours. Claimed profiles get an editable page, a Maker badge on comments and a free "Sifted" badge for your site.
What money buys here
| offer | price | what you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Reviewed by a human, launched in the next Monday drop. Nofollow link, or dofollow with our badge. |
| Premium | $19 | Same next Monday drop, plus a Premium label, a dofollow link from day one and a Premium badge. |
| Homepage promotion | $3.99/mo | Your logo in the rotating reel at the top of the homepage, labeled Promoted. Cancel anytime. |
| Homepage + category | $4.99/mo | The homepage reel, plus a labeled spot on top of your category page. Never a ranking position. |
| Deal listing | free | Offer SiftFox visitors a discount - green badge across the site. |
| Sifted badge | free | For every claimed or listed tool. Wear it proudly. |
And what money can't buy: a single boost or ranking position. If anyone offers to sell you one in our name, it's a scam - forward it to fox@siftfox.com.
